Each reader in 31-40 introduces one or twoĀ new soundsĀ (digraphs), such asĀ ea,Ā ewĀ andĀ air, and a handful ofĀ special wordsĀ (sight words), includingĀ ache,Ā throughĀ andĀ beautiful. Long vowel sounds, such asĀ i-eĀ as in bike, are introduced in this pack.

Brand Information

The Fitzroy Readers were created by Faye Berryman and Philip Oā€™Carroll for use in the classrooms of Fitzroy Community School, founded by the pair in 1976 in Melbourneā€™s inner north. Faye, formerly a secondary English teacher and social worker, and Philip, previously a university lecturer in logic and linguistics, designed the program to promote reading confidence and mastery of English using a phonic approach.
